Gid Tha Illest approaches the rap game as a fan first and values the art of music above else. He grew up and to this day listens to music from that standpoint. His ultimate goal is to give the world a masterpiece, akin to Voodoo or Faces. He loves rap most of all for its ability like no other to tell a story, and wants to stand out as someone who makes concepts. Albums intended to be listened to front to back. But if none of that happens he just loves entertaining and making people laugh.

Gid since an early age has fought depression and and a later diagnosed Bi-Polar disorder. He uses music as a way to pay homage to those who helped out of extremely difficult times and as an outlet to translate a jumbled mind. He hopes his effort in translating his emotions into music resonates with others and he can help someone through hard times.
Since a kid, Gid Tha Illest has gravitated towards music. At a young age his father introduced him into Reggae, and 90s Alternative. For most of his childhood he did not understand genres, and just listened to music as music. Everything changed when he found The Slim Shady LP. Memorized by Eminems lyrics, he immediately gravitated towards old school hip hop and gangster culture. He listened to old school rap religiously. However his music taste became way more diverse as he grew. From Mac Miller and Ab-Soul to Chief Keef and LA Capone, Gids inspiration became music. He will listen to Valee one day, and Aretha Franklin another day.

Gid was born in the westside of Chicago, his parents, through hard work moved to River Forest a suburb of Chicago. Though his childhood was mostly spent in the sub burbs, he absorbed a lot of the cities culture through his friends. He quickly fell in love with Chicago, the music, food, and atmosphere of diversity.
